HSA Account Funds Ineligible for Over the Counter Drugs
Under the new health care reform legislation, beginning in 2011, over the counter drugs will not be eligible to be paid from health savings account funds unless prescribed by a doctor. The penalty for nonqualified distributions from health savings accounts increases from 10% to 20% in 2011.
